The drive to Merzouga and and then to Erg Chebbi was long. You definitely need a 4wd for the last stretch. The desert is amazing. Camel ride, sunset then private tent with shower and toilet (ensuite) together with a beautiful dinner and live entertainment was pretty special. Was it expensive? Yes. Was it worth doing? probably though I would fly into the nearest town and then just stay in standard bivouac instead of luxury version as the shared bathroom facilities looked quite good and for 1 night, the luxury bivouac was extravagant!
