Visit El Badi Palace

In the heart of Morocco lies Marrakech, nicknamed the Jewel of the South, or The Rose City. These names symbolize the importance of being the centre of Morocco and the salmon coloured buildings that reside in it. Filled with vibrant earthy colours and historical enlightment, it is sure to delight every sense as well as the mind.

El Badi Palace used to be one of the most beautiful and magnificent palaces in the world but now it is in ruins. It was built in 1578 by the Saadian king, Ahmed Al Mansour and was covered in only the finest materials such as onyx, marble and gold. But the palace was stripped of all it's lavish elegances by Alouite Sultan Moulay Ismael in 1696 and all that is left now is the towering mud walls and a beautiful history, as well as a garden in the middle of it and the red paint that covers it's walls. It is a peaceful place where you can take an hour or two and meander through the passages and stairs imagining what life would have been like if the walls were covered in gold.

A place where you can let your mind drift into a magical world untouched by anyone, except the storks that have built their nests in the chimney tops. Now the historical palace is used as the settling place for The National Festival of Popular Arts for 2 weeks every June. Encasing people in the country's extensive history and showing off it's mystical essence.
