When visiting Morocco, travelers are often hard pressed for where to begin their great Moroccan adventure. This vast and varied country has beaches, deserts and forests all encompassed within its borders. For surfers, beach bums and anyone looking for an exotic seaside getaway, Agadir and Oualidia are a great place to visit!
The town of Oualidia (pronounced “Walidia”) is a smaller less explored destination and perfect for a quiet getaway. The town of Agadir is by contrast, a bustling hive of activity for vacationers looking for a more tranquil holiday experience. One thing these cities have in common is the colorful fishing boats that line the azure coastline and vast stretches of brilliant white beaches stretch for the length of the bay at Agadir.
Oualidia is a very ordinary village situated in Morocco’s own “Oyster Lagoon”. In this village, the oysters are world class and are easy to come by. But the real attractions here are the beaches and their surf spots. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, there is something here for you. If you have always wanted to take up surfing, both Agadir and Oualidia have excellent surf schools to help get you started! The ocean here is temperate, mild and relatively calm. Children can play in the shallow waters and adults can paddle out into the shore break and catch some waves. For serious surfers there are some great spots to look out for in this area.
Come and swim, surf and splash around in the Atlantic in the sheltered, sandy coves of Agadir and Oualidia!
